Twenty Simple Things that Make Me Smile

July 24, 2013 by Leah Stirewalt Leave a Comment

And the winner for this week’s book giveaway by Leslie Nease is Susan Glardon (time stamp: 7/22 9:18 am)!!! Congratulations Susan! Be sure to email me your mailing address at [email protected], and we’ll be sure to get the book right out to you. 🙂

After my whiny post yesterday, I figured I better be a little more positive today. 🙂 Actually, I took some time to reflect on God’s blessings – big and small. That got me to thinking about all of those little things that make me smile. Things that don’t really take much (if any money) and, in some cases, very little time. So for today…here’s my list of…

Twenty Simple Things that Make Me Smile (in no particular order):

1)      Getting a card in the mail from a friend or family member

2)      Taking a bubble bath

3)      Playing board/card games with the family (especially Monopoly Deal)

4)      Enjoying an oreo mint milkshake from Cookout (but those are going by the wayside for a little while)

5)      Painting – pretty much anything!

6)      Snuggling with the hubster

7)      Scrapbooking

8)      Getting flowers

9)      Participating in the creation of silly videos with my co-workers

10)   Getting a pedicure

11)   Editing digital pictures

12)   Planning our November vacation out west

13)   Getting a surprise “love letter type” text from my husband

14)   Skyping with our granddaughter

15)   Watching Duck Dynasty reruns

16)   Reading

17)   Listening to my husband laugh

18)   Snuggling with the hubster

19)   Getting my hair cut and colored

20)   Seeing/hearing how my prayers for others have been answered

What simple things make you smile?

UPDATE: After posting this, I realized I listed #6 and #18 twice. That goes without saying…that REALLY makes me smile! 🙂

Meet Leah

Leah StirewaltI became "twice widowed" when my beloved prince, Joel, went to his Heavenly home after a brief and sudden illness on February 12, 2017. I’m in a place of shock and devastation, but I intend to use this format to journal my second widow journey, much like I did my first. It’s my open journal, my electronic oasis, and it’s often the place I find true healing as I allow myself to “come clean” with my feelings. Read More...
