A Detail God…

August 25, 2009 by Leah Stirewalt 1 Comment

I’m a detail person. If you’ve been following my blog at all for any length of time, I know you’re just schocked by that statement…ha! Actually, the perfectionistic and orderly ways of mine simply line me up to be detail oriented. However, when it comes to my prayer time I don’t always remember to pray the details – I’m more big picture. Until recently…

My 12-year-old just started 7th grade this morning. Thankfully, this new school year didn’t bring about the same level of butterflies for her (and me) as last year did with her transition to middle school. However, there were a couple of very specific things that I’ve been praying about over the summer regarding this school year. I wanted God to place her with a specific team of teachers (they have 3 teams of teachers in this grade). I also prayed that He would remove a group of bullies that shared most classes with her last year that caused some emotional pain. Guess what? Yep – you guessed it – He came through big time! She’s with the exact team of teachers that I prayed for. And the bullies? One of them moved to Kansas, and the other 3 are on an entirely different team! Thank you God!

Don’t tell me God isn’t a God of details. He listens to every single, little prayer. He knows and cares about every small detail of our lives. Too often, we don’t take time to share those details with Him or may not take time to pray about the details. Worse yet, we may lose heart while waiting on Him to answer those detail prayers. Friends, give it ALL to Him – big and small! Watch Him work, be amazed, and give Him the glory in the end!

List #8

August 21, 2009 by Leah Stirewalt 1 Comment

Happy Friday friends!

This being Friday, it’s time for another one of Leah’s Lists. Can I just remind you all of how much I love to make lists? I know…I know…unless you’re a listmaker like me, you won’t understand. Just play along anyway…k?

Back in January, I undertook a challenge put forth by my favorite Bible teacher, Beth Moore, to commit to memorize 2 scriptures a month. I actually blogged about this back then, so if you’d like to read more about it…here you go:

http://panthersandpetals4him.blogspot.com/2009/01/scripture-memorization.html
(FYI: this was supposed to be a direct hyperlink, but I can’t get it to work right now. So, just copy and past this link into another window. Sorry about that.)

So, for today’s list, I thought I would share with you 10 of the 16 I have memorized so far. Why not all 16? Thought you’d never ask. Actually, all of my lists up to this point have consisted of 10 items. I can’t seem to break that tradition just yet. So, for now, I will plan to give you the next 10 at the end of October.

God has been so very, very good to me through this habit creation! I’ve memorized scripture before (Psalms especially), but this time around it’s been so different. He has absolutely honored my obedience with this! Without fail, He’s given me an opportunity to directly use that scripture in my life or someone else’s right after I’ve memorized it! His word is very powerful, living and active folks! I not only encourage you to hide His word in your heart through memorization, but I plead with you to do so. It will be life changing if you stick with it!

Be blessed today!

Ten scripture passages memorized in 2009:

1. 2 Samuel 22:31 (NIV)
2. Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NIV)

8. Isaiah 61:1-4 (NIV)

Meet Leah

Leah StirewaltI became "twice widowed" when my beloved prince, Joel, went to his Heavenly home after a brief and sudden illness on February 12, 2017. I’m in a place of shock and devastation, but I intend to use this format to journal my second widow journey, much like I did my first. It’s my open journal, my electronic oasis, and it’s often the place I find true healing as I allow myself to “come clean” with my feelings. Read More...
